Haters, be warned…this is an entry about a band that I love. I do NOT need a fucktard douchebag’s attention-whoring comments to mar the façade of MY blog. If you have something to say about anything in the world at all, go create your own blog where you can rant about how pathetic you are and how utterly apathetic life is when it comes to you and your concerns.
I have just come back from the Fall Out Boy concert held at the Araneta Coliseum tonight. Before I venture into the serious ‘review’ part of this entry, indulge me these few fangirl minutes…
The concert was A-FUCKING-MAZING to say the least!!! Pete was at his most charming best (he even said “Kamusta kayo?” — or was it “Kamusta ka?” I honestly can’t remember anymore because of all the screaming going on inside that place) and was able to prove yet again what an amazing musician, showman, and human being he is. The compliments he gave the Philippines, Manila, and all us Pinoys were truly heart-warming and might have made all those teenage-girl-emo-wannabe’s-I’m-in-the-scene-wannabe’s swooning and reeling and screaming and wetting themselves until there are absolutely no bodily fluids left in their itty-bitty anorexic or magnificently obese bodies to secrete (I’m sarcastic and downright evil, so what? Go screw yourself, fucker). Hey Monday more than succeeded in pumping the crowd up. Oh, and Cassadee Pope is oh-so-gorgeous. Patrick’s vocals was impeccable. Joe-Fro made crazy, mad-love with his guitar/s which caused the crowd to go freak-out crazy. And Andy just lived up to being the band’s rhythm-master. It was hot, wild, crazy, sexy, and just outrageously fun! I really thought I paid too little for such a wonderful experience. The only thing missing was Pete stripping on-stage and my entire fucking decade would’ve been complete! Oh well…
It was a definite ‘blink-miss’ moment. Blink-Miss because if you even dare blink, you’ll definitely miss a part of the action on the stage. And let me tell you, there was A LOT of action going on on-stage, thanks to Mr. Wentz, Mr. Stump, Mr. Trohman, and Mr. Hurley.
The guys played songs from almost all their albums. Almost all because they only took songs from Take This To Your Grave (Saturday, Grand Theft Autumn), From Under The Cork Tree (A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More “Touch Me,” Sugar, We’re Going Down, Nobody Puts Baby In A Corner, Dance Dance, I Slept With Someone From Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me), Infinity On High (Thnks Fr Th Mmrs, Thriller, This Ain’t A Scene It’s An Arms Race, The Take Over The Breaks Over), and, of course, Folie A Deux (I Don’t Care, Disloyal Order Of Water Buffaloes, Headfirst Slide To Cooperstown On A Bad Bet, America’s Suitehearts). They left out Evening Out With Your Girlfriend…don’t know why. Oh, and they also covered Estelle’s American Boy and played their Beat It remake as well, and they were awesome!!! Plus, with Patrick’s voice? Geez! I’ll make him sing “ABC” and I’d probably STILL swoon or scream or just close my eyes and savor such oh-so-rare moments.
I didn’t take much pictures, my seat wasn’t that close to the stage, unlike the Panic At The Disco concert last year. Besides, I attended this concert to really savor the music and sing at the top of my lungs without anyone caring that I can’t fucking carry a tune or that I don’t know all the lyrics to the songs. I went there to have fun. Yeah, I learned my lesson the hard way: almost missing out on some of the on-stage action at the Panic At The Disco concert when I took all those pictures I almost didn’t enjoy myself.
Honestly, it was just your basic rock concert. What made it special was the band and their personalities. They were interacting with one another and at the same time they were all doing their own thing, but never trying to upstage one another. They complimented one another onstage. They were performing for the audience and at the same time enjoying themselves, enjoying the crowd, enjoying their own music, and enjoying the amazing energy that was pouring out of each and every hot, electric body in that venue. The big, goofy smile (no, not grin, it was a smile) on Pete’s face which was bright enough to light the entire damn coliseum without needing to flick any switch at all was proof enough that it was a special experience for them as well. The surprise announcement Pete made at the middle of the concert shocked me (and everyone else in that venue, I’m sure) and got me all giddy and excited at the same time. It was a pleasant surprise, one that has caused me to believe that they see the Philippines as a really special place for them and that we, indeed have left an indelible mark in their hearts, minds and souls.
Was the concert worth it? Definitely? Would I do it again? I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t. Where would I sit? Patron VIP…to hell with the ticket price! =)
And with that, I leave you with a part of my visual memory from tonight:
